DJI launches a new drone with very interesting features. The highlighted feature is the Mavic Air drone's built in camera shoots 4K video at 30 frames per second. The Mavic Air’s onboard camera integrates a 1/2.3” 12-megapixel CMOS sensor and an f/2.8 lens with a 35 mm-equivalent focal length of 24 mm to shoot high-quality photos and videos. Mavic Air has a new 3 axis gimbal casing for the camera for smooth footage. There are new shooting modes (including 32 MP Panorama Option) and better gesture controls. Creating a "picture frame" it can take a selfie.
The company claims that they have improved their image processing so that they can squeeze photos and videos better than a relatively small sensor. It should be relatively easy and secure to fly with a seven camera obstacle avoidance system. With sensors on the front, back, and sides that keep away the Mavic Air from crashing. There is also a new remote with an integrated screen, which is included with the drone. The Air has all of the automated flight modes. DJI is promising both updated and improved software features on the Air. The Mavic Air also got a redesigned ventilation system which will help to keep it away from overheating.
Flight time of this new drone is 21 minutes and it tops out at 42 miles per hour, can withstand winds of up to 22 miles per hour and has a 2.5 mile range.
