Qualcomm's mid-range
snapdragon chipset is very important for smartphone makers and consumers. Currently
Snapdragon 660 is the mid-range chipset and seems that it might get a successor
at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC). If we have to trust the latest
leaks, Qualcomm can soon announce Snapdragon 670 chipset.
Snapdragon 670 SOC will be built using the 10 nm FinFET process, which means that the Snapdragon 600 Series is the first to join the ranks of Snapdragon 835 chipset and Samsung’s Exynos 8895 chipset. It will be very energy efficient because of the 10 nm FinFET process. The new Snapdragon 670 Chipset will be using the low-end processors (Kryo 300 Silver clocked at 2.6 GHz) and the high-end processor (Kryo 300 Gold clocked at 1.7 GHz).
The CPU core has 32 kb L1 cache, while each cluster has 128 kb of L2 cache and the full package has an additional 1024 kb L3 cache. The chipset will be assisted by the Adreno 615 GPU, which can post clock speeds of up to 650 MHz and can reach up to 700 MHz. The Adreno 615 GPU is also expected to support higher resolution dual camera setup with 13 MP and 23 MP. The new Snapdragon 670 would offer WQHD display support.
Snapdragon 670 will feature Qualcomm’s X2x modem for the faster download speed upto 1 Gbps. This chip would support UFS memory which could be a great option for the smartphones users.
Qualcomm hasn’t actually announced this chip yet. The Snapdragon 670 SOC is expected to be unveiled in the first half of the year and will soon be expected in upper mid-range smartphones of 2018.
